Enjoy a Concert by Austin's Renowned Performing Arts Companies

Did you know that Austin is home to renowned performing arts companies?

If you would like to enjoy a show, here are three groups near our Austin apartments that will entertain you from start to finish:

Austin Symphony Orchestra

The Austin Symphony Orchestra debuted in 1911, making it the city's oldest performing arts group in the city. It offers a season of music and educational programming, and strives to enhance the quality of life in Central Texas. Conductor Peter Bay has worked with eighty different orchestras. He won a young conductor's competition in 1980, and was inducted into the Austin Arts Hall of Fame 36 years later. The symphony features over 90 musicians who perform throughout the year. Their most popular concerts include the pops series and holiday shows.

Austin Opera

Founded in 1986, the Austin Opera is the city's oldest professional opera company. It quickly gained national attention for producing outstanding performances. The first production debuted to rave reviews, with a local critic stating, "one could not have hoped for a more polished first show." The singers are known for their vocal artistry, and they strive to celebrate Austin's diversity. Early 2020 performances include Everest and Schubert's Winter Journey "Winterreise."

Austin Civic Orchestra

The Austin Civic Orchestra offers six to eight concerts every season. The group has provided high-quality music since 1977, and performs both traditional classics and lively pops. There are over seventy musicians who play everything from the harp to the bassoon. They entertain at various venues around town, with upcoming shows including Maher's Fourth and Texas Rising Star. The orchestra is always looking for volunteers to help with merchandise sales and reception preparation.
